My name is Erik Kenneth Martus. I am web and graphic designer based out of Douglas, Massachusetts and currently enrolled at Blackstone Valley Regional Technical Vocational High School in Upton, Massachusetts in the Multimedia Communications shop. For the past four years I have been learning the ins and outs of the trade as well as gaining an immense amount of experience using the Adobe Creative Suite and Creative Cloud. Every week I take on a new project with a bright and ambitious attitude to create something that amazes even me; as the saying goes, I am my own worst critic.
Outside of the design lab, I captain the varsity cross-country in the fall, run for varsity track in the spring, and year round commit myself to being a leader in my community. I am a member of Valley Tech’s chapters of the National Honors Society and National Technical Honors Society. I use both of these societies as the engine for me to make a difference through volunteering in the community of the Blackstone Valley.
My passions drive me to accomplish all that I can, and to make an impact while doing it. With this in mind, I have chosen to pursue video game design in college so that I can still pursue my creative side, while gaining the ability to reach millions not just in the United States, but across the world. Video games are one of the most widely consumed media formats in the 21st century, and are especially popular amongst younger demographics. This gives the medium a unique property to influence the maturing generation across the globe, meaning that video game designers have the potential to help shape the future of the world with their craft.
